Anna B. (Hewitt) Voll, 94, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa left this earth on April 10, 2017 to live for all eternity in Heaven.
Anna is survived by her son, Rudolf (Louise) Kellner of Gilbert, AZ; grandson Kristofer (Anne) Kellner of Veraz, France; granddaughters Kim (Rafi) Ali and Krista Kellner of Geneva, Switzerland; grandson Kristofer (Anne) Kellner and granddaughter Alyssa of Veraz, France; sister-in-law Anna Marie Willms of Köln, Germany.
Anna was born on January 24, 1923 in München-Gladbach, Germany to Peter and Katharina (Goergens) Willms. Anna married Rudolf Kellner and together they had a son, Rudolf. Four years after Rudolf’s (KIA) demise, Anna remarried. Sgt. Lloyd Hewitt, Anna and her son, Rudolf, left Germany to arrive in New York harbor in November, 1948. Eager to become a citizen of her new land, Anna attended citizenship school at night. On September 2, 1952 Anna became a U.S. citizen.
Anna, her son and Lloyd’s five children lived in Edwardsville, Kansas and eventually moved to Bonner Springs, KS. Anna and Lloyd were married for 45 years when Lloyd passed away. Eventually, with the blessings of her family, Anna remarried. A long time friend and widower, Elmer Voll and Anna moved to Elmer’s home town of Des Moines, Iowa.
Anna had a very close relationship with God and lived by His word. Being active in her community and raising her children by God’s word was very important to Anna. In earlier years, when there was a need for a German speaking interpreter, Anna proficient in English and German, was asked and accepted the role.
Her son, a radio personality, describes his mother as a gentle, kind, caring and loving woman who also was a strong woman. Beyond words, she will be missed.
